Marcillanet is a pretty manor house situated between vineyards, oak trees, pines and moors. With its beautiful Renaissance door, its soil and its vines, it is a shared passion between Marc Ponsar and his stepfather Jean Mahieu since 1991.
Ever since, Marc Ponsar had been focusing with his wife Claire to develop the vineyard and highlight its specificities:
- Old vines: the presence of vines seems to date from the 13th century , when the castle was built . We can find the name in the first rankings of Bordeaux wines, including the guide Ferret 1868.
- All processes are harmonised to human and family size.
- Autonomous operations, all operations are carried out on the vineyard.
We develop our wines in the Médoc tradition: we respect the ancestral know-how by combining it with modern technology.
We value the production through selling bottles directly to importers abroad and in France with wholesalers and consumers.
Marc Ponsar is particularly concerned with the vineyard management and business development.
Claire Ponsar organizes and manages the vineyard. She monitors the harvest and oversees the general maintenance of the property.
